  Programme Information
About the Programme : The Department of Statistics provides live and encouraging environment to students and offers programs leading to the Bachelor of Science. The Bachelor’s Degree Program is a 240 ECTS credits program of 4 years composed of eight semesters, each with a 30 ECTS workload. One ECTS is equal to 25.5 hours of student workload per semester. Applications involving the statistical methods and probability theories bear importance for understanding the research processes and data analyses in wide areas as health, economy, finance, common sector, engineering, biological, social and natural sciences. Faculty members of our department have wide and deep teaching and research experiences in different areas of statistics. Statistics is an interdisciplinary science that involves data collection, evaluation, interpretation and presentation in every area of life. The science of statistics has applied in wide areas of spectrum from engineering and natural sciences to social science, economy, and public relations. In global competing conditions, all private and government institutions use the tools of the statistical science in wide areas as the processes of production and development of goods, total quality managing, market searching, system security, experimental planning. Besides, the demands for the statisticians are increasing steadily in many areas primarily in insurance, banking, finance, risk management, market analysis, decision supporting systems, and health and earth quake researches. Because, we believe that one day to come, the statistical thinking would be retired feature just like overcoming illiteracy with teaching and education. The graduates of the department can work as statistical experts in banks, ministries and different offices of the government sectors, insurance companies, armed forces, software engineering firms, public relations, and statistical research centers, universities, and logistics companies, automotive and other industrial sectors. The Bachelor of Science programs in statistics give basic knowledge to the students in wide range of the technical areas and social sciences. The education program includes the basic mathematical laws suitable to the statistical science, statistics theories and methods, probability and stochastic processes , time series analysis, statistical knowledge systems and computer networks, artificial intelligence, statistical quality control and total quality management, six sigma and pure production approach, statistical optimization research, data mining, experiment planning and variance analysis, logic and statistics applications, risk analysis.  

Qualification Awarded : The students who have successfully accomplished this program gain the bachelor’s degree of Statistics. 

Level of Qualification : A Bachelor´s Degree Program in STATISTICS is a 240 ECTS Credits, 4-year program. The program meets the requirements by both the ECTS credits and level descriptors of the first cycle degree qualifications of the Overarching Framework of European Qualifications Framework HE(QF-EHEA) and the 6th level qualifications of the Turkish Qualifications Framework for HE (TYYÇ, NQF-HETR). The level descriptors also meet the 6th level requirements of the qualifications of the European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF-LLL) .  

Specific Admission Requirements : Placement through a centralized national university placement examination (ÖSYS). Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) is responsible to place students according to their ÖSYS scores.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning : In Turkish Higher Education Institutions, the acknowledgment of the Bachelor´s diploma for a university is organized with the regulations related to double majors and subspeciality and the transition between Associate Degree programs and undergraduate program. This regulation also allows credit transfer between related institutions.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations : To be successful in this program, students are required to successfully complete all the courses to meet a minimum of 240 ECTS credit requirement and have a minimum of GPA of 2.00/4.00.

Occupational Profile of Graduates : The graduates of the department may be employed in various banks, as an undersecretary in ministries, head offices, insurance companies, military, software companies, public relation companies, universities, lojistic companies, in the sectors such as automobile and other industrial sectors as vice specialists responsible for the statistical processes 

Access to Further Studies : The graduates of this program are eligible to apply for admission to graduate studies in same field or related areas if they pass the evaluation process designated according to the regulations of “Çukurova University Graduate Education and Examination Committee”, which includes ALES, general point of average, and the interview.

Assessment and Grading : In this program, assessment and grading are conducted according to Cukurova University Education and Assessment regulations for Associate and Undergraduate degrees.

Graduation Requirements : To be able to finish undergraduate degree, students must complete all courses, applications and workshops that are included in the program, gain two hundred and forty (240) ECTS credit requirements in total in undergraduate level and obtain a minimum GPA of 2.00/4.00. 

Mode of Study : This programme is a Full Time programme.
