  Programme Information
About the Programme : Department of Agricultural Economics carries out activities for the following purposes; graduating agricultural economist agricultural engineers who will serve in areas related to agricultural economics in public and private institutions and companies functioning in general economic and agricultural sector; carrying out studies towards the solution to agriculture related problems on regional, national and international levels, in order to train expert staff in areas which the nation needs by offering Masters and PhD education in these areas. The main areas the Department focus its activities for these purposes are summarized as follows: Informing farmers of where, when and how they can profitably apply production related technical results introduced by the branches of agricultural sciences Determining problems which producers face at every stage of marketing crop and livestock products, and proposing solutions to these problems at each stage Supplying scientific data to decision makers on the outcomes of policies and applications while considering national and international developments Identifying problems and finding their solutions in introduction of agricultural innovations to farmers Recognizing the role and the significance of social structures in economic development and searching for possible improvements.  

Qualification Awarded : The students who have successfully accomplished this program gain the bachelor’s degree of Agricultural Economics. 

Level of Qualification : First Cycle (Bachelor’s Degree) 

Specific Admission Requirements : Placement through a centralized national university placement examination (ÖSYS). Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) is responsible to place students according to their ÖSYS scores.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning : In Turkish Higher Education Institutions, the acknowledgment of the Bachelor´s diploma for a university is organized with the regulations related to double majors and subspeciality and the transition between Associate Degree programs and undergraduate program. This regulation also allows credit transfer between related institutions.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations : To be successful in this program, students are required to successfully complete all the courses to meet a minimum of 240 ECTS credit requirement and have a minimum of GPA of 2.00/4.00. 

Profile of the Programme : At regional (Çukurova) and national levels, training individuals who have contemporary and analytic sense through organizing education, research and publication activities in accodance with the changing structure and conditions for the rational use and management of agricultural sources. Contributes to the science and technology improvements in his/her field and puts the knowledge gained into practice.

Occupational Profile of Graduates : Graduates of this department can be employed in public organizations such as the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Development, Ministry of Water Affairs and Forestry, Ministry of Trade and Customs, Undersecretariates of Treasury and Foreign Trade, Center of Export Development, Center of National Productivity and State Hydraulic Works and also in bank and insurance companies, agricultural cooperatives and irrigation unions, agricultural and nonagricultural enterprises, chambers and stokmarkets, development agencies, control and certification organizations, and other private sector companies.  

Access to Further Studies : The graduates of this program are eligible to apply for admission to graduate studies in same field or related areas if they pass the evaluation process designated according to the regulations of “Çukurova University Graduate Education and Examination Committee”, which includes ALES, general point of average, and the interview.

Assessment and Grading : In this program, assessment and grading are conducted according to Cukurova University Education and Assessment regulations for Associate and Undergraduate degrees.

Graduation Requirements : To be able to finish undergraduate degree, students must complete all courses, applications and workshops that are included in the program, gain two hundred and forty (240) ECTS credit requirements in total in undergraduate level and obtain a minimum GPA of 2.00/4.00. 

Mode of Study : This programme is a Full Time programme.
