  Programme Information
About the Programme : The foundation of the Department of Matheamtics dates back to 1978, with the reqruitment of the first teahing staff member within the Faculty of Basic Sciences. It becomes a separate department with the foundation of the Faculty of Science and Letterts in 1982 and the first undergraduate students were accepted in the 1983-1984 academic year. In 2002 the number of the faculty reached 17. In 2003 some of the faculty established the Department of Statistics. Currently the department is continuing research and teaching with 5 Full, 3 Associate and 5 Assistant Professors.  

Qualification Awarded : The students who have successfully completeded the program are awarded Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics. 

Level of Qualification : First Cycle (Bachelor’s Degree) 

Specific Admission Requirements : Placement through a centralized National University Placement Examination (ÖSYS). Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) is responsible to place students according to their ÖSYS scores.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning : In Turkish Higher Education Institutions, the acknowledgment of the Bachelor´s diploma for a university is organized with the regulations related to double majors and subspeciality and the transition between Associate Degree programs and undergraduate program. This regulation also allows credit transfer between related institutions.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations : To be successful in this program, students are required to successfully complete all the courses to meet a minimum of 240 ECTS credit requirement and have a minimum of GPA of 2.00/4.00. 

Profile of the Programme : The Department aims to educate students to be able to reason mathematically, use mathematical theories to solve problems in other fields, be aware of the power of mathematics in solving real problems in daily life, able to do research and able to answer questions and meet the expectaitons of the modern life.

Occupational Profile of Graduates : Our graduates have a chance of finding a job in many positions. They can work as researchers or academics in different universities in Turkey as well as the United States and Europe. Furthermore, they can work in financial sector and in different areas of the public sector, as well as working as a teacher of mathematics at various levels of the Ministry of National Education upon completing the pedagogical formation courses.  

Access to Further Studies : The graduates of this program are eligible to apply for admission to graduate studies in same field or related areas if they pass the evaluation process designated according to the regulations of “Çukurova University Graduate Education and Examination Committee”, which includes ALES, general point of average, and the interview.

Assessment and Grading : In this program, assessment and grading are conducted according to Cukurova University Education and Assessment regulations for Associate and Undergraduate degrees.

Graduation Requirements : In order to graduate, students must pass all courses in the program, earn at least two hundred and forty (240) ECTS credits with a minimum GPA of 2.00/4.00.
