  Programme Information
About the Programme : TThere is an undergraduate and a graduate program in the Department of Primary Education. Those who graduate from the four-year degree program work as classroom teachers in primary schools, whereas those having MA and PhD degrees work at the Ministry of Education and universities. The vision of the Department of Primary Education is to train teachers and leaders who will have a positive and meaningful effect on the students, school and society in which they live. It provides pre-service teachers with the constantly changing and evolving basic scientific knowledge in their field and related fields. Furthermore, it contributes to the development of this basic scientific knowledge through scientific research and projects. The Department of Primary Education enables pre-service teachers to use and evaluate the scientific knowledge that they have gained at various school and classroom environments (villages, slums, office, private ...) through cooperation and solidarity with primary schools. In this way, it prepares them to the school and classroom environments which have a very complex structure. 

Qualification Awarded : The students who have successfully accomplished this program gain the bachelor’s degree of Elementary Education. 

Level of Qualification : First Cycle (Bachelor’s Degree) 

Specific Admission Requirements : Placement through a centralized national university placement examination (ÖSYS). Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) is responsible to place students according to their ÖSYS scores.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning : In Turkish Higher Education Institutions, the acknowledgment of the Bachelor´s diploma for a university is organized with the regulations related to double majors and subspeciality and the transition between Associate Degree programs and undergraduate program. This regulation also allows credit transfer between related institutions.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations : To be successful in this program, students are required to successfully complete all the courses to meet a minimum of 240 ECTS credit requirement and have a minimum of GPA of 2.00/4.00. 

Profile of the Programme : The aim is to train and educate classroom teachers who have the quality of sensitivity towards people, society and nature, understand the significance of themselves and their profession on social development, are capable of applying pedagogical training in the class appropriately, have the ethical responsibility. Moreover, it aims to train classroom teachers who perceive continuous development as a way of life, adopt the scientific way of thinking, considers the public benefits, utilize the information and communication technologies, are able to think in a creative and critical manner, are democratic, secular, and contemporary, and who respect Ataturk’s principles.

Occupational Profile of Graduates : The graduates work in elementary schools or other private schools. 

Access to Further Studies : The graduates of this program are eligible to apply for admission to graduate studies in same field or related areas if they pass the evaluation process designated according to the regulations of “Çukurova University Graduate Education and Examination Committee”, which includes ALES, general point of average, and the interview.

Assessment and Grading : In this program, assessment and grading are conducted according to Cukurova University Education and Assessment regulations for Associate and Undergraduate degrees.

Graduation Requirements : To be able to finish undergraduate degree, students must complete all courses, applications and workshops that are included in the program, gain two hundred and forty (240) ECTS credit requirements in total in undergraduate level and obtain a minimum GPA of 2.00/4.00. 

Mode of Study : This programme is a Full Time programme.
