  Programme Information
About the Programme : Mechanical Engineering Department was established in 1978 within the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture and started its undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral education in the years 1979, 1982 and 1984. Nearly 1000 undergraduate and 200 postgraduate students continue their education in our department. The medium of instruction in all courses is English for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. As of July 2013, 10 professors, 1 associated professor, 3 lecturers and 10 research assistants have been working in our department. There exist a total of 6 sub-branches in Mechanical Engineering Department, namely Machine Theory and Dynamics, Construction and Manufacturing, Thermodynamics, Energy and Automotive. Each branch has its own laboratory facilities. Besides the scientific research, both educational and industry-oriented services are being provided in these laboratories. 

Qualification Awarded : The students who have successfully accomplished this program gain the bachelor’s degree of Mechanical Engineering. 

Level of Qualification : First Cycle (Bachelor’s Degree) 

Specific Admission Requirements : Placement through a centralized national university placement examination (ÖSYS). Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) is responsible to place students according to their ÖSYS scores.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning : In Turkish Higher Education Institutions, the acknowledgment of the Bachelor´s diploma for a university is organized with the regulations related to double majors and subspeciality and the transition between Associate Degree programs and undergraduate program. This regulation also allows credit transfer between related institutions.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations : To be successful in this program, students are required to successfully complete all the courses to meet a minimum of 240 ECTS credit requirement and have a minimum of GPA of 2.00/4.00. 

Profile of the Programme : One year English preperation class is compulsory for the students who don´t have proficiency in English. Our students graduate equipped with the knowledge given by a program regarding the needs of the industry which is prepared in accordance with the views of shareholders during the four-year undergraduate education. Our students have the opportunity to do minor or double major in automotive, industrial, civil and textile engineering departments. They also have a chance to continue their education one or two semesters in Europe by mean of the ERASMUS program. Above all, students have facility to convert the theoretical knowledge acquired in lectures into practice in laboratories.

Occupational Profile of Graduates : There is a wide variety in area of employment that Mechanical Engineering graduates can work both in the public sector and the private sector. Our graduates can also be employed as technical staff, researcher or manager in many areas that machines are used in. Energy, food, automotive, aviation, textiles, machinery design and manufacturing, the defense industry, automation, air conditioning, ship, and biomedical industries are only a few sectors that department graduates take the opportunity to work in. Our graduates benefit from the academic career opportunities as well as overseas business opportunities. 

Access to Further Studies : The graduates of this program are eligible to apply for admission to graduate studies in same field or related areas if they pass the evaluation process designated according to the regulations of “Çukurova University Graduate Education and Examination Committee”, which includes ALES, general point of average, and the interview.

Assessment and Grading : In this program, assessment and grading are conducted according to Cukurova University Education and Assessment regulations for Associate and Undergraduate degrees.

Graduation Requirements : To be able to finish undergraduate degree, students must complete all courses, applications and workshops that are included in the program, gain two hundred and forty (240) ECTS credit requirements in total in undergraduate level and obtain a minimum GPA of 2.00/4.00. 

Mode of Study : This programme is a Full Time programme.
