Course Goal / Objective
The primary goal of the course is to equip ceramic art students with a holistic understanding of the multifaceted process of exhibition planning and execution. Through an immersive curriculum that melds theoretical principles with hands-on experiences, students will be empowered to conceptualize, design, and orchestrate their own ceramic art exhibitions. By the culmination of the course, students should not only grasp the intricacies of venue selection, design, lighting, and promotion but also possess the practical skills and confidence to bring their ceramic art visions to life in a curated space.
Course Content
The course delves deeply into how to successfully plan and execute exhibitions, tailored specifically for ceramic art students. The course navigates through the foundational principles of exhibition planning, the crafting of an exhibition's concept and vision, the intricacies of selecting the ideal venue, the details of design and placement of artworks, and the nuances of proper lighting and sound techniques. Additionally, it addresses operational aspects such as exhibition promotion, budgeting, funding, and post-exhibition processes. The course integrates theoretical knowledge with practical application and real-life experiences. Students are bolstered by various projects and assignments that aim to hone their skills in planning and implementing their own exhibitions. The overarching goal is to empower students with a comprehensive understanding of all facets of the exhibition planning process and the ability to successfully orchestrate their own showcases.
