General Information

The Mining Engineering Department, which was established in 1990 under the Çukurova University Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, started its undergraduate activities by taking students since 1991. Since 1992, he started his master's education as a Mining Engineering Department within the Institute of Science. The doctorate program was opened in 1997 and education is given by taking students who meet certain criteria from people who have received a Master's degree.

Feature & Definition

Master's graduates, who are included in the doctoral program, come to a level where they can do solution-oriented studies in the mining sector with the experience and knowledge they have gained. It has the opportunity to work interdisciplinary in coordination with national and international working groups.

Goals

To educate qualified mining engineers; who have the highest level of knowledge necessary for his/her study area and can solve the problems related with mining industry; who have the necessary abilities to examine and interpret the scientific findings and incidents with a wide and detailed perspective; who can plan, perform, manage and conclude a research process; who can publish the results of his/her academic studies in respected academic platforms; who are aware of scientific neutrality-ethical responsibility; who are sensitive to society and environmental values.

Objectives

The aim of the doctoral program is to train students to be able to conduct independent research at high international standards. In the program, basic mining theories and applications in various fields are presented. In addition to the theory and research methods courses they have to take, students have the opportunity to choose from the courses offered in the Mining Doctorate Program and other programs according to their interests.

Specific Admission Requirements

Master's Degree diploma, minimum 55 points from ALES, minimum 55 points from YDS exam or equivalent score from exams recognized by YÖK.

Qualification Requirements of Graduation

At least seven credit courses from 21 credits and not less than 60 ECTS in one academic term (total of fall and spring semesters); consists of seminar course, specialization courses, proficiency exam, thesis proposal and thesis study and total 240 ECTS.

Graduates can apply for post-doctoral studies.

Graduated students can work in various coal and metal mines, mineral processing and enrichment plants, cement industry, various transportation tunnels, dimension stone and marble quarries, sand and gravel quarries, ceramic industry and engineering consultancy firms which are specialized in projects and feasibility studies. Graduates could be able to find job opportunities in the countries with developed mining sector.
