Çukurova University, İmamoğlu Vocational School, Electricity and Energy Department, Gas and Installation Technology Program started its educational activities by making the first student registrations in 2013, and the first graduates of the department were Gas and Installation Technology Technicians in 2015.

The Natural Gas and Installation Technology Program aims to train technical personnel with the following characteristics in order to close the gap of intermediate staff needed in the sector: Highly qualified, having the habit of working together, socially responsible, having developed independent thinking skills, applying this knowledge with a strong theoretical knowledge as well as practical experience, and self-confident.

Goals

The purpose of the program: To meet the need for intermediate staff in the sector by supporting the theoretical knowledge given in the training process with the existing atelier and laboratory facilities. Graduates who can draw natural gas installation, heating installation, sanitary installation, and fire installation projects in buildings and who can perform their installation, assembly/disassembly, maintenance and repair, and operation are trained with this program. In addition, graduates can install hot water, hotter water, steam, and hot oil boilers and systems and maintain, repair, and operate them.

Objectives

The use of natural gas is becoming more and more common in our country. With this program, which will train technicians with high knowledge and skills to meet the need for intermediate staff in natural gas, heating and plumbing, gas use in our country will become more reliable. With this program, which will train technicians who can implement the natural gas installation, heating installation, and sanitary installation projects in our buildings in line with the directives received from the engineers and direct the workers to work, in more contemporary, livable, and workable spaces will be provided.

Specific Admission Requirements

Students are admitted to the Natural Gas and Installation Technology Program with a central examination conducted by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Students are admitted to the department in the TYT score type and a 2-year associate degree education is given in our department. In order for students to be placed in the Natural Gas and Installation Technology Program, the TYT exam score must be calculated as a result of the Higher Education Institutions Exam. Students whose TYT score has been calculated are placed in the program of their choice with the Central Placement made by ÖSYM, according to their success ranking.

Qualification Awarded

Those who successfully complete the training receive the title of "Technician" and have an associate degree diploma in "Natural Gas and Installation Technology".

Qualification Requirements of Graduation

An associate degree diploma in natural gas and installation technology is given to students who successfully complete all the courses available in the program (for a total of 120 AKTS) and achieve a grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00, and also get a passing grade from the internship report they prepared with their professional internship.

Access to Further Studies

Those who have successfully completed their associate degree education can enter the DGS (Vertical Transfer Exam) exam and transfer to the undergraduate programs determined by OSYM within the framework of the relevant legislation of YÖK, according to their success status and scores. If our graduates are successful in the DGS exam, they can continue their education in the Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering of the Engineering Faculties, and Energy and Installation Teaching Departments of the Technical Education Faculties and have the chance to graduate from a four-year faculty. In addition, they can enroll in the Business Administration and Economics undergraduate programs of Open Education Faculties without an exam.

Internship

The internship duration is 30 working days (5 weeks). Internships are held at the end of the first year, during the summer term, within the dates determined by the school. During the internship, the health insurance of the students is provided by Çukurova University. Students can do their internship in companies that assemble and install natural gas and heating installations, in gas distribution companies, in water units, boiler rooms, cooling and air conditioning departments of factories in various sectors, in subcontractors engaged in pipe assembly and disassembly, in manufacturing factories which producing plumbing fittings materials, welded/seamless iron pipe and plastic pipes and project drawing offices.

There is no applied lesson in our school.

There is no workplace training in our school.

There are no double major/minor/joint program opportunities in our school. Our students can benefit from Erasmus/Mevlana/Farabi exchange programs.

Employment Opportunities

Students who graduated from the Natural Gas and Installation Technology Program can work in construction companies, project drawing offices, factories and ateliers producing gas pipes and fittings equipment, natural gas distribution companies engaged in gas installation assembly and disassembly gas distribution companies and BOTAŞ. They can install, maintain and repair heating systems working with natural gas, solid/liquid/gas fuel, or solar energy in public or special sector institutions.
