General Information

Master's education in Mining Engineering Department started in 1992 and still continues. There are three departments in the department, namely Mining Operation, Mine Mechanization and Technology, and Mineral Processing. A total of 11 faculty members teach in this program.

Mining Engineering can be defined as a profession that offers the mines in the earth's crust for the benefit of humanity. In this direction, it covers many stages from finding the mines, producing them and making the produced ores suitable for use. With its wide field of activity, mining engineering has become an interdisciplinary position. Mining engineering, which is based on basic and engineering sciences, is in the field of mining engineering, such as rock mechanics, drilling-blasting, reserve modeling, excavation, production, transportation, ventilation, topography, ore enrichment, environment, waste management.

Goals

Objectives

Our mission is to train Mining Engineers, who can access information, analyze and evaluate the information, know how to benefit from this knowledge while solving real engineering problems, have problem-solving skills and leadership skills, can provide interdisciplinary cooperation, and produce innovative and original solutions.

Specific Admission Requirements

In this program, students can continue their education in their own field or in related fields as a result of the evaluation of ALES, Bachelor's Grade Point Average and interview exam together within the framework of "Ç.Ü. Graduate Education and Training Regulations".

Qualification Requirements of Graduation

The master's program consists of a total of at least 120 ECTS credits, at least eight courses including the seminar course and thesis work, provided that it is not less than 60 ECTS credits in one academic term (total of fall and spring semesters).

Access to Further Studies

Students who successfully complete their Master's education in this program can continue their doctorate education in their own field or in related fields, as a result of the evaluation of ALES, Master's graduation grade point average and interview exam together within the framework of "Ç.Ü. Graduate Education and Training Regulations".

Employment Opportunities

Graduates of the department find employment opportunities in both public and private companies. In addition, although there is no direct mining activity, road, tunnel and dam constructions provide additional job opportunities for our graduates. Ninety-one percent of our graduates are employed in the private sector, five percent as academics, and four percent in the public sector.
