Goals
The aim of the Master's Degree Program in the Department of Medical Microbiology is to transfer the basic principles of Medical Microbiology (especially bacteriology, virology, parasitology, mycology and microorganism genetics) to the students, to increase the working experience of the students in the microbiology laboratory, to teach scientific research and to prepare students for academic life and to train competent people who are committed to scientific and ethical values.
Objectives
Gains the ability to design a scientific study in the field, to form a research question / hypothesis, to make experimental design and to perform these experiments, to analyze the results of the experiments and to evaluate and interpret them together with previous studies.
Specific Admission Requirements
Graduating from a department or faculty that meets the “Graduation Prerequisites for Application to Graduate Programs” determined by the Board of the Graduate School of Health Sciences and approved by the Çukurova University Senate. To have the ALES (SAY/EA) and Foreign Language base score determined by the Board of the Graduate School of Health Sciences and approved by the Senate of ÇÜ (ÇÜ Graduate School of Health Sciences Application and Entrance Requirements for Graduate Programs).
Qualification Awarded
Those who successfully complete the Medicine - Mycobiology Master's program are awarded the title of “Master” (MSc) in the field of Microbiology.

Qualification Requirements of Graduation
The program is four semesters and can be extended to a maximum of six semesters. At the end of the fourth semester at the latest, at least seven compulsory and elective courses in the curriculum, one of which must be in English, seminar course and “Scientific Research and Publication Ethics” course (non-credit) must be taken, provided that they are not less than 21 credits (120 ECTS) in total, and at the end of the sixth semester at the latest, the thesis study must be carried out and the thesis defense exam must be sufficient.
Access to Further Studies
Students who have successfully completed their master's degree can apply to the appropriate doctoral program of various universities if they wish.
Internship
Students can carry out their internships in various units of the university, institutions or organizations in the country or by taking advantage of the Erasmus internship mobility program.
Applied Course
The courses are both theoretical and practical.
Work Placement
Students learn applications such as identification of microorganisms, diagnosis of disease agents, culture and antibiotic susceptibility tests by working in professional environments such as hospitals, private laboratories or health institutions.

The Erasmus program is a European Union program to encourage European higher education institutions to cooperate with each other. It provides free financial support for higher education institutions to produce and implement joint projects with each other and to exchange students and staff for short periods.
Employment Opportunities
Students with a master's degree are ready for doctoral education and academic life. In addition, our students find employment opportunities in private laboratories, R&D laboratories in the private sector and various areas of the pharmaceutical industry (quality control, clinical research, etc.). Some of our students also have the opportunity to work in the field of public and private biology.
