The First and Emergency Aid Program started education in the Ceyhan Campus of Çukurova University during the 2003- 2004 academic year. In 2013-2014 academic year, it included in Çukurova University Vocational School of Health Services.

Feature & Definition

Students are admitted to this program according to the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) conducted by the Presidency of OSYM. In primary education of First and Emergency Aid Program we have 60 quota. The language of education is Turkish. Students are able to take theoretical and practical courses within the classrooms of the Abdi Sütcü Vocational School of Health Services, the first and the Emergency Assistance classrooms, and the Çukurova University School of Medicine Balcalı Hospital. Students who graduate from this program earn the title of "First and Emergency Aid Technician". Graduated students can work in emergency departments of universities, public hospitals and private hospitals and in ambulance stations and command control center of 112 Provincial Ambulance Service Chief Physicians.

Goals

It is to train health professionals who can apply basic life support practices within the scope of their duties, authorities and responsibilities in the pre-hospital area to the sick or injured person, who can provide advanced life support when necessary, and who can safely transport the casualty/patient to the health institution.

Objectives

1-Applying basic life support 2-Knowing the indications of oxygen therapy and applying oxygen therapy with appropriate equipment 3-Providing correct airway management with appropriate equipment 4-Ensuring bleeding control with the right equipment and methods 5-Applying advanced life support practices 6-Görev-yetki-sorumlulukları kapsamında ilaç/sıvı uygulamalarını etkin bir şekilde yürütmek 7-Using an automatic/manual external defibrillator 8-Providing the casualty/patient immobilization with appropriate equipment when stabilization is indicated 9-Transporting the casualty/patient with the right equipment and proper handling techniques 10-Performing effective triage in the field for multiple injuries or disasters 11-Providing communication with the command and control center and other organizations 12-Cooperating with team members and employees in other organizations 13-Assisting in normal labor 14-Effectively to assess the casualty's/patient's condition through physical examination and other diagnostic methods 15-Protecting yourself from possible occupational accidents by using body mechanics effectively 16-Crime scene, ensuring casualty/patient safety

Specific Admission Requirements

According to the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) conducted by the Presidency of OSYM, students are admitted to this program within the quota. In addition to this, students are accepted in the quota announced by the international student office with the transfer quotas according to the central / grade point average.

Qualification Requirements of Graduation

Students are admitted to the university through the selection and placement exam.

Access to Further Studies

Graduates deserve vertically transfer to appropriate undergraduate programs (Nursing, Emergency Aid and Disaster Management) by successfully achieving the vertical transfer exam (DGS). Thus, they can earn the right to undergraduate education.

Internship

Mandatory summer internship is 30 workdays. It may be held in emergency room of public hospitals, university hospitals and private hospitals and 112 stations.

Applied Course

Practical courses are carried out in Çukurova University Balcalı Hospital Health Practice and Research Center clinics.

Work Placement

Work-based learning is not done.
