General Information
Karaisalı Vocational School was established in 1995 in Karaisalı district, which is 50 km away from Adana and Çukurova University Campus. The Department of Plant and Animal Production started its Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Program education in the 2009-2010 academic year. The main purpose of the program is; To equip students with up-to-date knowledge about growing medicinal and aromatic plants and to provide them with the ability to transfer this knowledge into practice. The program aims to train human resources needed for the agricultural sector, who follow occupational health and safety instructions and are sensitive to environmental rules.

The Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Program undertakes to produce practical production studies as well as producing theoretical knowledge through the associate degree courses it offers to its students. In particular, its main goals are to conduct applied research on medicinal and aromatic plants that can be grown in the climate and soil conditions of the region and the cultivation techniques of these plants. In an environment that integrates practice and education, by developing a unique professional understanding of lifelong learning and service, serving society in the field of agriculture in general and medicinal and aromatic plant cultivation in particular, being responsible and environmentally sensitive, able to use and apply the education he received practically in his field, and becoming a pioneer of the 21st century. To train well-educated agricultural technicians who have the knowledge, equipment, talent and skills to meet the needs. Professional courses taught in the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants program are carried out by current permanent faculty members.

Goals
The aim of this program is to train intermediate staff who can use the rapidly developing technological applications in our country's medicinal and aromatic plant cultivation. The interest in using natural products of plant origin instead of synthetic products in the fields of food, medicine and cosmetics in the world and in our country has increased greatly in recent years. Medicinal and Aromatic Plants program covers the biological and ecological properties of these plants, whose economic value has increased in the pharmaceutical, food and cosmetic industries, protection of genetic resources, areas of use, collection from nature, cultivation and preservation, processing, usage methods, marketing, chemical contents and analysis methods, quality controls. It aims to train auxiliary technical personnel with basic knowledge by obtaining information on the subject in an interdisciplinary and academic understanding. Nowadays, when the protection of the natural resources of plants used as herbal medicine raw materials, perfumes, dyes and spices has come to the fore, the aim is to train technical personnel who have received academic training on this subject instead of practices based on traditional knowledge.
Objectives
The objective of the program is to provide an educational infrastructure suitable for the needs of the age by following technological developments in the field of medicinal and aromatic plants and to carry out our educational activities based on the subjects needed in the field, to provide a leading education at national and international level that can apply innovations in this field and produce solutions to the problems of the society and In this way, the training of Agricultural Technicians with high qualifications is possible.
Specific Admission Requirements
Students are accepted to this program with the placement result document issued by the Assessment, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).
Qualification Awarded
Students who successfully complete the program receive the title of Agricultural Technician.

Qualification Requirements of Graduation
In order to graduate from this program, it is necessary to have a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and to be successful in all courses.
Access to Further Studies
Students who successfully complete their associate degree education in this program can take the 'Vertical Transfer Exam' and continue their undergraduate education in various departments of the Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Chemistry of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
Internship
30 work day. Students can do internships in public and private institutions, especially in medical and aromatic plants, as well as public institutions such as central and provincial organizations, agricultural research institutes, municipal parks and horticultural units, affiliated to the Ministry of Agriculture, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Agricultural Crops, Food, Agriculture and Livestock.
Applied Course
Cultivation, care, production, reproduction and harvest of medicinal and aromatic plants are carried out in the Vocational School's research application area and greenhouses.
