General Information
The Machinery Program, which is part of the Department of Machinery and Metal Technologies, started its education and training activities with the evening program in the 2002-2003 academic year. The program started accepting students within the scope of normal education in the 2010-2011 academic year. It currently continues its education and training activities under the Department of Machinery and Metal Technologies in line with the aim of training qualified technical personnel needed by the industry.

Feature & Definition
The Machinery Program aims to train qualified technical personnel needed by the machinery sector. Within the scope of the program, students are provided with theoretical and practical training in areas such as machine design, manufacturing methods, material knowledge, computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) along with basic engineering knowledge. Students also gain knowledge and skills in software commonly used in the sector such as SolidWorks and Mastercam. The program offers a two-year associate degree education, and students must complete the credit and practical training requirements determined for graduation. After graduation, students can work in various positions in the public and private sectors, and they can continue their undergraduate education by transferring to relevant engineering faculties with the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS). The program closely follows sectoral developments, updates its curriculum and supports students to enter business life as well-equipped Mechanical Technicians.

Goals
The aim of the Machinery Program is to train qualified technicians who are required by the machinery sector, have technical knowledge and skills, are proficient in production processes, are innovative, have advanced analytical thinking skills, and can follow and apply technological developments. The program aims to provide students with the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge in areas such as machine design, production methods, material knowledge, quality control and computer-aided production. In addition, it is aimed for graduates to work in accordance with occupational health and safety rules, adapt to teamwork, use communication skills effectively and adhere to professional ethical values. The Machinery Program aims to strengthen industry-university cooperation and increase students' professional experiences. In this direction, practical training and internship opportunities are provided in close contact with the sector. The program attaches importance to students being individuals who are open to not only current technologies but also continuous learning and development. In addition, the program sees among its main goals to train individuals who act with sustainability awareness, are aware of their environmental responsibilities and observe the effective and efficient use of resources.
Objectives
The main objective of the Machinery Program is to train technicians who are needed in the machinery and manufacturing sector, who can put theoretical knowledge into practice, who can take part in production processes and who have professional competence. In this context, the specific objectives of the program are as follows: To provide students with a strong foundation in the fields of machine technologies, production methods and computer-aided design, To ensure that graduates can effectively take part in industrial organizations, production workshops, R&D centers, maintenance-repair units and similar areas, To ensure that students reach the competence to work responsibly in line with professional ethical values, occupational health and safety rules, To support students in gaining sector experience by benefiting from applied education and internship opportunities within the scope of industry-university cooperation, To ensure that students become aware of continuous learning, following technological developments and personal development, To train individuals who consider sustainable production processes and environmental awareness in their professional studies.

Qualification Awarded
Students who successfully complete the Mechanical Engineering Program are awarded an Associate Degree and the title of "Mechanical Technician". When students complete a certain amount of credits and meet graduation requirements, they gain the knowledge and skills to work as a qualified technical staff in industrial and manufacturing areas.

Qualification Requirements of Graduation
To graduate from the Machinery Program, students must meet the following requirements: Completion of Courses and Credits: Students must successfully complete the courses specified in the program curriculum and complete the required number of credits in total (usually 120 credits). Achievement Grade: Students must receive the passing grade determined for each course (usually 60/100) and their general grade point average (GPA) must be at a certain level (usually 2.00/4.00). Internship and Practice: Students are required to complete the internship program that provides direct contact with the business world. The duration and content of the internship are determined in accordance with the academic calendar of the program and must be completed successfully. Occupational Health and Safety Training: Students must receive occupational health and safety training and obtain the necessary certificate. Practical Training: Participation in workshop and laboratory courses given within the scope of the program is mandatory. These courses are important in order to enable students to develop their practical skills. Course Content and Completion of Deficiencies: Students must complete all required courses in order not to fail any course and to complete their graduation without delay due to missing courses. If all these conditions for graduation are met, students receive an Associate Degree with the title of Mechanical Technician.

Undergraduate Education with Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS): Students have the opportunity to receive undergraduate education through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) after graduation. This exam allows vocational school (VOC) graduates to transfer to undergraduate programs at various universities. They can gain more in-depth expertise by receiving undergraduate education in fields such as machinery, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, and automotive engineering. Undergraduate programs offer students broader career opportunities and enable them to take on higher-level positions in their professions. Career Advancement in the Business World: Graduates can reach higher positions in the business world as they gain sectoral experience and develop their professional skills. During this process, they can develop in leadership, project management, and expertise areas and assume positions such as production managers, quality control managers, and project managers. These types of positions allow graduates to take on more responsibility and use their professional skills. Starting Their Own Business (Entrepreneurship): Graduates with an entrepreneurial spirit can also evaluate the opportunity to start their own business. Especially in the manufacturing sector, they can offer innovative solutions to the sector by establishing their own engineering and manufacturing companies. Internship
Mechanical Engineering Program students are required to complete a mandatory internship to gain experience in the business world. Internships provide students with a great opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in real work environments, follow developments in the sector and adapt to business life. Internships are a requirement for graduation and contribute to the development of students' professional skills. Purpose of Internship: To provide students with real work experience in the fields of mechanical engineering and manufacturing technologies, To ensure that they learn computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM), machining and chipless manufacturing processes, To provide students with practical training in important areas such as occupational health and safety, welding applications, To strengthen the cooperation between the industry and the university and to ensure that they gain information about the sector. Internship Content: Internships are carried out in industrial establishments or companies in the relevant sector. Students complete an internship in a workplace that includes at least 5 subjects. These topics are as follows: Hand Tools and Machine Tools: Students will take part in production processes using hand tools and various machine tools, shape machine parts and learn and apply machining processes. Machining: Students will learn machining methods such as lathe, milling, and drilling in practice. Chipless Manufacturing: Students will gain experience in chipless manufacturing methods such as laser cutting and water jet cutting. Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM): Students create their designs in a digital environment using CAD/CAM software and produce them by transferring them to the production process. Automatic Control and Systems: Students will learn the basic principles of industrial automation systems and experience automatic control applications in practice. Occupational Safety: During the internship, students will learn occupational safety rules and take the necessary precautions to ensure safe working conditions. Welding Applications: Students will learn welding methods and take an active role in various welding processes. Internship Duration and Evaluation: The internship must be completed by students for 30 working days. Students report that they have gained practical experience in the specified subjects during the internship period. The internship will be evaluated according to the students' performance in the workplace, the training they received, and the internship reports they will submit in writing. At the end of the internship, students report their experiences to their instructors, and this report is an indication that the internship has been successfully completed. The internship is a mandatory requirement that students must fulfill for graduation.
Applied Course
Practical courses are an important stage of education that allows students to use their theoretical knowledge in practice and develop their professional skills. In these courses, students strengthen their ability to solve problems they may encounter in industrial and production areas and gain experience working with various machines and equipment. The content of practical courses is aimed at providing students with practical skills they will encounter in the business world.
