Course Goal / Objective

The students will be able to design relevant types of on-site wastewater treatment systems for communities with a wide variety of populations. They should be able to understand the basic principles in waste water treatment.

Course Content

Properties of used waters, treatment methods of used waters (physical, chemical and biological methods). Activated sludge and application of activated sludge, aeration of activated sludge, aerated lagoons, stabilization ponds, biological filtration and trickling filters, anaerobic treatment, natural biological treatment methods, post treatment methods, determination of Project criterion and preparation of treatment plant project.
