Course Goal / Objective

The first objective of the course is to build on the student´s background in hydrology and hydraulics an understanding on the engineering of water resource systems. The second objective is to understand the importance of appropriate management of our resources of fresh water, the principles of sustainable management and their application to the management of water resources,

Course Content

Basic calculations and units for water Management, Watershed Management, hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, reservoir sizing and hydropower detention pond routing and weir design, storm water management system, economic feasibility, sustainability indices, water resources and social development; social and political processes; alternatives and objectives; methodology of design; water law and legislation
