Course Goal / Objective
To provide students with a fundamental background in theoretical and applied rock mechanics with emphasis on problem-solving in rock engineering as well as an ability to conduct laboratory experiments and interpret the results.
Course Content
Introduction/ Basic descriptions and concepts/ Stresses on the ground/ analysis of stress and strain/ Physical and mechanical properties of rock material and rock mass/ Rock mass classifications/ Rock failure criteria/ Stresses on the underground openings and measurement/ laboratory experiments.
