Course Goal / Objective

To teach the students who will work as health staff the basic equipments used in microbiology laboratory, the fundamental concepts of microorganisms, production and control of microorganisms, and good and bad effects of microorganisms, antimicrobials, mechanisms of action and resistance, are to learn.

Course Content

The history and development of microbiology and fundamental concepts, Working rules at laboratories, The equipments and microscobes used in microbiology, Identification and classification of miroorganisms and general properties, The structure of bacterium, their production and metabolisms, The genetics of bacterium and antimicrobic materials, İnfections and infectionary ways , sterilisation and disinfection, The production environment opf microorganisms, colors and painting methods, Staphylococcus,Streptococcus, pneumococcus, bacillus and general information about fungus; general information about viruses, host-microorganisms relations, normal flora, microbiological sample collection and transportation, antimicrobials, mechanisms of action and resistance, antibiotic susceptibility testing are included.
