Course Goal / Objective

Understand the basic terms and subjects on the general situation of vegetable seed industry in the world and in Turkey, new developments in seed industry, seed types, tohum biology, seed processing and technology, quality in vegetable seeds, seed control and certification and vegetable cultivation for seed production.

Course Content

The place of vegetable seed in Turkey and in the world, description of seed, seed production and the importance of its quality, the structure of seed, hybrid seeds, calculating the seed amount that will be sown, seed physiology, dormancy, vernalization, germination and vigor tests, induction of germination and inductors, seed control and certification, seed storage, the effect of environment on seed production, seed taking techniques, seed yield and the cultivation of vegetables for seed production
