Course Goal / Objective

To introduce the underground mining operations, main principles of underground mining, application fields and conditions, and understand the parameters that influence the choice of production method, giving ability to make the selection of production method.

Course Content

Introduction and descriptions/ Classification of underground mining methods, American and German Classifications/ Longwall methods; longwal, Rill Stopes , planning of longwall methods/ Shortwall Methods; shrinkage stoping, underhand open stoping/ Pillar methods, piller caving, piller mining with filling, top slicing, sub-lavel caving/ Chamber methods, chamber mining, breast stoping, room and pillar method, sub-level stoping, Mitchell slicing, planning of chamber methods/ Factors affecting the choice of production method / Other mining methods/ Stowing methods/ Examples of under ground mining in Turkey.
