Course Goal / Objective

This course mainly aims to meet the mendatory minimum requirements of Sefarers Regulation clause 19 and annex clause 6 for seafarers, the seafarer taking this course will learn measures to be taken for saving himself and others life during any emergency, using life saving appliances appropriately and measures to be taken for the safety of vessel.

Course Content

Students learn the relation between basic measurement and horse power.

LO01 This course mainly aims to meet the mandatory minimum requirements for seafarers for familiarization, basic safety training and instruction.
LO02 Students will be competent to operate life-saving appliances and take charge of a survival craft or rescue boat during or after launch.
LO03 Students will have knowledge of fire prevention and fire fighting.
LO04 This course will give new seafarers an insight into the various elements of a ship and working procedures on board so that they adjust to the shipboard environment, and are better prepared to cope with any unforeseen circumstances.
LO05 Students will be competent to take immediate action upon encountering an accident or medical emergency until the arrival of a person with medical fist aid skills or the person in charge of medical care on board.
