Course Goal / Objective

This course aims to examine the sociological effects of contemporary media practices. Analyzes the effects of Old and New Media channels on social change in today's globalized and connected world. It reveals the sociocultural and political effects of digitalization and especially social media tools on the lives of people living in different regions of the world. The ultimate aim of this course is to examine the effects of 21st century media practices on the construction of individual and social identity, on the meaning of social life and on cultural change.

Course Content

This course will examine the 21st century media practices in terms of social and cultural importance. It is a reading-weighted lesson and includes the understanding of the sociocultural importance of media tools and channels that students frequently use in the flow of everyday life in the light of the theoretical literature.
