Course Goal / Objective

An introductory primer to learning to code. It is aimed to tell stories in new ways.

Course Content

Teaching basic elements of writing code, specifically code for the Web, and introducing many of the fundamental technologies that are essential elements of online news presentation.

LO01 To have a solid understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript and what each does in the context of a modern Web page.
LO02 To understand at a high level the interaction of key technologies and how they make contemporary news distribution possible.
LO03 Know what goes into making a basic news graphic.
LO04 To understand the Web publishing process and how to post simple static pages to the Internet.
LO05 To be able to create a Web page that responds to user input.
LO06 Understand how to independently debug and fix problems in code.
LO07 To know how to find online resources for technical help.
