Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is; after graduation, to be able to deal with the dental needs of individuals who require special care.

Course Content

It includes oral and dental health care of individuals with physical, sensory disabilities, mental retardation or chronic diseases in the community.

LO01 Students will have the ability to make diagnosis, treatment planning and appropriate dental treatment of individuals with physical, sensory, mental, medical, emotional and social disabilities.
LO02 Provide high quality oral dental care for the complicated needs of people with disabilities.
LO03 Will be able to plan the dental health planning that is most suitable for the social, physical and perceptual situation of the disabled person.
LO04 Evaluate the effects of oral dental health on the quality of life of people with disabilities.
LO05 Will be able to perform dental treatment under local anesthesia by using behavioral guidance techniques.
LO06 Will be able to inform about sedation and general anesthesia applications when behavior orientation techniques are not effective.
LO07 In particular, they will have an understanding of the ethical and legal framework that dentists will serve.
LO08 Will be able to take part in multidisciplinary team aiming treatment of disabled individuals.
