Course Goal / Objective

The main aim of this course is to introduce environmental engineering students to issues such as pollution, pollution control, ecological balance, basic principles of natural cycles, the necessity of global cooperation for environmental management and sustainable development. The second aim is to help students gain the fundamentals of environmental engineering with a broad perspective as a multi-disciplinary application. Verbal communication and ethical discussions are an integral part of developing environmental engineering problem solving contextual understanding and practical approaches.

Course Content

This course covers the definition of environment and general cycles, human related environmental pollution, sources of pollution, pollution of waters, pollution of streams, lake pollution, water pollution control, solid wastes.
