Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to enable the student to evaluate the basic engineering problems with free body diagrams in a simple way, to calculate the internal forces and support reaction forces in the basic structural elements by using the principles of equilibrium under static loads and the balance equations based on these principles.

Course Content

Force Vectors, Components of Force System, Equilibrium of Rigid Body, Friction, Structural Analysis, Center of Gravity, Moment of Inertia

Course Learning Outcomes

Order Course Learning Outcomes
LO01 Calculates the resultant of static forces.
LO02 Calculates the unknowns in the equation by establishing the equilibrium equations under static forces.
LO03 Calculates the reaction forces on the supports of rigid bodies by using the principles of equilibrium under static forces.
LO04 Calculates the axial forces in the truss system elements and the joint forces in the frames by using the principles of balance under static forces.
LO05 Calculates internal forces in simple and continuous beams under static loads, to draw related bending moment, shear force and axial force diagrams.
LO06 Calculates the unknowns in the equation by establishing the equilibrium equations for rigid bodies under the influence of static forces and friction force.
