Course Goal / Objective

Features and types of soil maps, mapping units used in mapping, methods of making soil maps, cartographic materials used and interpretation maps produced from soil maps and to give applied and theoretical information that will enable them to gain the methodology and skills of using these maps in land use planning.

Course Content

Aims of soil mapping, types of soil maps, mapping units and features in soil maps, soil survey mapping processes, cartographic materials used and their interpretation, definition and mapping of soils in the field, writing of soil survey report, land capability classification and land use planning
