Course Goal / Objective

The general aim of this course is to provide the acquisition of basic concepts related to education and learning, to explain the functions of the school as an educational institution, the social, philosophical, psychological and economic foundations of education, and its relationship with other sciences. In this course, it is also aimed to provide students with the general structure, purpose, principles, related laws and characteristics of the teaching profession.

Course Content

Defining the concepts of Education-Teaching and Learning, Explaining the sub-types of education and the similarities and differences between these types, Explaining the overt and hidden functions of Educational Institutions, Explaining the social, philosophical, psychological and economic foundations of education, Establishing the relationship of education with other sciences, Classifying educational philosophy movements, specifying the relationship of these movements with general philosophies Listing the basic principles of Turkish National Education and explaining each of them, Defining the basic laws of National Education, Explaining the qualifications of the teaching profession and a good teacher Listing the historical facts about the Turkish National Education and briefly explaining each of them, Classifying the scientific research methods used in education explanation.
