Course Goal / Objective

Learn the concept and type of shear stress and strain, know stress strain relations, law of Hooke and types of stress,perform stress analysis, calculate stress on simple machine parts, know the concept of equivalent stress in unified stress state and applied theories and performs calculations

Course Content

A Short Review of the Method of Statics, Stresses in the Member of a Structure, Analyses and Design, Axial Loading; Normal Stress, Shearing Stress, Bearing Stress in Connections, Application to the Analysis and Design of Simple Structures, Design Considerations, Stress and Strain; Axial Loading, Normal Strain under Axial Loading, Stress-Strain Diagram, Hooke's Law; Modulus of Elasticity, Deformations of Members under Axial Loading, Poisson's Ratio, Shearing Strain, Further Discussion of Deformations under Axial Loading; Reiation among E, v, and G, Torsion. Angle of Twist in the Elastic Range, Bending.
