Course Goal / Objective
In this course, it is aimed to give an insight to students to examine a variety of philosophical and practical approaches to ethical and moral definitions of right and wrong in terms of communicative acts, rules and professional behavior, ethical and social change, popular culture and ethics, ethics in the media. Students will be able to apply the theoretical background to daily examples. professional ethic rules, self-kontrol mechanism, ethic codes and rules should be internalized and comments about ethics problems.
Course Content
Course schedule will include; the history of ethical theory point of view, the different approaches: deontological-teleological ethics, utlitiarianist ethics, discursive ethics, communication, ethics and modernization, an ideal communication medium-Habermas, critical social theory, facilities, ethnographic studies, field surveys, the sample will be in the form of subject choices and research facilities and seminar presentations. Transition to professional ethics and communication ethics will be realized after general ethics, and journalism ethics, public relations ethics ane new media ethics will be discussed detailly.
