Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to teach the techniques of tissue culture, somatic hybridization and gene transfer in fruit trees

Course Content

General principles of plant biotechnology, tissue culture techniques, in vitro clonal production, meristem culture, shoot tip grafting, proplast culture, somatic hybridization and gene transfer techniques in fruit trees are taught theoretically and practically

LO01 Learn about chronological development stages of plant biotechnology. Learns the contents of plant biotechnology.
LO02 Learn and apply the techniques of tissue culture such as in vitro clonal production, meristem culture and shoot tip grafting
LO03 Learn how to use in vitro clonal selection to develop tolerant plant varieties to disease and extreme environmental conditions
LO04 Learns the protoplast culture, fusion and somatic hybridization techniques to obtain plants which is tolerant to extreme environmental conditions resistant to disease and pests
LO05 Learn Agrobacterium mediated gen transfer with application. Learn tarngenic plant analysis methods and producing commercially trangenic crops.
LO06 Learn plant tissue culture methods for stone and pome trees
