Course Goal / Objective
To teach the the basic equations governing the behavior of fluids at rest and in motion and their applications
Course Content
Properties of fluids: Compressibility, Viscosity, Surface tension, Vapor pressure, Hydrostatic pressure and forces, Hydrostatic pressure due to linear acceleration and uniform rotation, Basic equations of flow and metods of analysis, Classification of flow, Continuity equation, Convective motion of fluid element, Circulation, Stream function, Velocity potential function, Flow net, Conservation of momentum, Euler equation of motion, Bernoulli equation and its applications, Curvilinear flows, Conservation of moment of momentum, Turbines and pumps, Navier-Stokes equations, Reynolds averaged Navier Stokes equations
