Course Goal / Objective

Gaining Necessary Knowledge in Selection of Structure, Form and Surface, and Synthesis of Resulting Movements, which are the most challenging conceptual stages of machine design.

Course Content

Brief history of mechanisms; Type, number and dimensional syntheses; Techniques for structure synthesis; Classification of 4-rod mechanisms; 4-bar mechanism for function generation; Design techniques for two, three, four, five or more positions; Conversion of continuous rotational motion into oscillating motion under various criteria.
