Course Goal / Objective
Emphasizing the role and effectiveness of SEA on the sustainability of sectoral activities.
Course Content
General information is given on the definition, principles and process of Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), which provides a holistic approach in the preparation of policies, plans and programs in the sustainable development process. The necessity of the application of SEA in making planning decisions related to different sectors (energy, agriculture, housing, transportation, etc.) and sample application methods constitute the general course scope. Within this scope, the planning hierarchy and sectoral planning process in Turkey are analyzed and evaluated and associated with the general stages of the SEA. In addition, the planning processes in Turkey and other countries are compared in terms of the applicability of the SEA.
