Course Goal / Objective
Acquisition, analysing and interpreting of hydrometeorological data.
Course Content
Definition of Water Harvesting; Principles and Benefits of Water Harvesting (WH); Components of Water Harvesting Systems; Indigenous Water Harvesting Systems; Overview of Water Harvesting Systems; Micro-catchment Systems; On-Farm Systems; Rooftop Systems; Macro-catchment and Floodwater Systems; Planning, Design and Implementation of WH Systems; Selecting the site and technique; Contour ridges; Small pits; Runoff strips; Semi-circular bunds; Small runoff basins; Contour bench terraces; Inter-row systems; Designing the WH System; Implementation; Operation and Maintenance; Prerequisites for Success; Selecting the Crop; Socio-economic Aspects.
