Course Goal / Objective

Entertainment industries, mass culture, audience, sports, leisure, globalization, consumption; The place of Adorno and Horkheimer's concept of culture industry in contemporary media systems, industrialization and cultural production processes, discussions of the dissolution of mass culture, the position of postmodernity and cultural industries, audience-consumer-customer, new media technologies and participation discussions in the context of media and cultural industries. cultural industries readings

Course Content

Discussing the points at which the Industry and the Media are in contact with the Power, and what kind of need this contact meets; Analysis of Culture Industry, Media and Power relations, thematics and evaluations of Frankfurt School members Adorno, Horkheimer and Marcuse.
