Course Goal / Objective

Learns basic information about semiconductors in detail. Learn about semiconductor device fabrication and working principles.

Course Content

General information about the structure of semiconductors, energy band structure, doped and undoped semiconductors, defects in semiconductors, carrier concentration in equilibrium and non equilibrium, the Fermi level, charge transport mechanism in semiconductor, drift current, resistivity, carrier concentration, mobility, Hall effect, carrier types, diffusion current, drift and diffusion equalities, Einstein relation, continuity equation, regeneration and recombination process, direct and indirect transition, generation-recombination centers, the basic device manufacturing techniques, p-n junctions.
