Course Goal / Objective

To identify the common orodental problems; the clinical, radiological, biochemical and other adjunct diagnostic test required for appropriate diagnosis; the appropriate and accurate dental treatment planning.

Course Content

Extra and intra-oral examination methods, hard and soft tissue lesions observed within the orofacial area due to local and systemic etiological factors, appropriate diagnostic tests, synthesis of all patient data, assessing the proper and accurate patien-specific treatment planning.

LO01 Assess family history, medical history and current medicaal conditions of the patient.
LO02 Use examination methods (inspection, palpation, percussion, oscultation, transillumination, probing, diascopy, aspiration) to evaluate the general characteristics of the patient. Examine head and neck, paranasal sinuses, eyes, nose, ears, TMJ, lymph nodes, skin.
LO03 Evaluate radiological and other adjunct test required for diagnosis.
LO04 Uses dental volumetric tomography software.
LO05 Knows the application areas of dental volumetric tomography in dentistry.
