Course Goal / Objective
To understand the general situation of vegetable seed growing in the world and in Turkey, new developments in the seed sector, seed types, seed biology, seed processing and technology, quality in vegetable seeds, control and certification and vegetable seed cultivation.
Course Content
The place of vegetable seed production in Turkey and the world, the definition of seed, the importance of seed production and quality, the structure of the seed, hybrid seeds, seed physiology, dormancy, vernalization, germination and vigor tests, stimulation of germination and stimulants, control and certification of seeds , storage, effect of environmental conditions on seed production, seed extraction methods, seed yields and growing of vegetables for seed production.
