Course Goal / Objective

To analyse spatial or geographical data sets; to produce alternative projects in the management of environmental and natural resources throug utilising geographical information technologies.

Course Content

Fundamentals of cartography; common projection systems and rectification; global posistionimng systems (GPS) and data acquisition; basics of Geographic information systems (GIS), GIS Analysis Functions and Operations for spatial data management and analysis, GIS data types and structure; commercail and public domain GIS Software; GIS data integration; GIS Analysis Functions and Operations: Spatial Data Capture and Maintenance, Geometrics and Measurements, Spatial and Aspatial Queries; Classification, Neighborhood Operations, Spatial Arrangement and Connectivity Functions, Surface Operations, Overlays and Map Algebra, Spatial Statistics, Image Processing. Some application in resources engineering, environmental science, drainage, soil salinity, and related disciplines.

There is no prerequisite for enrolling to this course.
