Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to understand the contents of basic condensed matter physics.

Course Content

Crystal structures in solids, Thermal, Acoustic and Optical Properties of Solids; Free Electron Model; Thermal and electrical conductivity of metals; Energy bands of solids;Bloch theory; Band structure of metals; Insulators and semiconductors; Energy band calculation; Experimental methods in defining band structure; Semiconductor devices.
