Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to teach the basic lattice dynamics and thermodynamic properties of solid materials.

Course Content

Basic concepts; Crystal structures of materials; Crystal symmetry; Lattice dynamics; Thermodynamic properties; Experimental methods for the measurement of vibrational frequencies, phonon spectrum and thermodynamic properties determined by density functional theory.
