Course Goal / Objective
The aim of this course is to give basic statistical research methods used in some researches and studies.
Course Content
Statistical applications in engineering, Data collection, Measures of central tendency, Arithmetic mean, Effect of outliers, Median, Mode, Comparison of mean, median and mode, Geometric mean, Harmonic mean, Calculation of variance and standard deviation, Variation coefficient, Some probability distributions, Branch-leaf representation, Box plots, Some properties of sample mean and variance, Point estimation, Confidence intervals, Interval estimate on population mean with known variance, Interval estimate on population mean when variance is unknown, Interval estimate on the difference in means of two normally distributed populations, Interval estimate for measurement pairs, Hypothesis testing, Hypothesis testing on the mean of a normally distributed population with known variance, Hypothesis testing on the mean of a normally distributed population with unknown variance, Hypothesis testing on the difference in means of two normally distributed populations, Experimental design, Analysis of variance, Regression modeling.
