Course Goal / Objective
Explaining students the operating principles, performance parameters, fuels, combustion theory, exhaust emission formation mechanism and emission control methods of internal combustion engines used in vehicles.
Course Content
Definition of internal combustion engines, engine design and operating parameters, basic thermodynamics and gas dynamics, ideal engine cycles and efficiencies, combustion theory, heat transfer in engines, injection, cooling, lubrication, starting, supercharger systems (turbocharger and supercharger), high speed diesel engines, new developments in internal combustion engines
