Course Goal / Objective

Basic concepts of toxicology; factors affecting toxicity; the fate of xenobiotics in the body; compares the damages caused by drugs and chemical, biological and physical agents to the biological system and the effects of these damages at the macro and molecular level, analyzes and evaluates sufficient theoretical and experimental information so that they can learn to determine harmlessness limits by making toxicological risk assessments.

Course Content

Demonstration (practical approaches in toxicology, classification of poisons according to isolation techniques; isolation techniques of poisons; collection, storage and use of samples; preparation of samples; quantitative and qualitative analysis methods of toxic substances; experimental animals); isolation of acidic and alkaline drugs that cause poisoning by extraction from biological material, identification by primary direct tests and chromatographic methods and evaluation of their toxicity, evaluation of their toxicity by spectrophotometric method.
