Course Goal / Objective

Aim of this lecture is to comprehend students a modern overview of the diversity and phylogeny of cryptogams, i.e. non-seed plants, ferns and algae.

Course Content

A modern overview of the diversity and phylogeny of cryptogams, i.e. non-seed plants, ferns and algae are explained in this lecture. Life cycles, evolutionary developments and other biological characteristics of cryptogams are explained during this course.

LO01 Students recognize differences between cryptogamae (non-seed) and Phanerogamae (seed) and understand the place of non-seed plant in taxonomic level.
LO02 Students know how and which basic biological characters help to recognize non-seed plant and seed plant
LO03 Students understand general reproduction of plants, and different types of asexual and sexual reproduction of non-seed plants
LO04 Students know that which characteristics separate sub-systematic groups of seedless plants and upper and lower categories.
LO05 Students know that seedles plants living in aquatic environments constitute algae and understand the contribution of algae to the biological life in aquatic ecosystem.
LO06 Students understand the basic morphological characteristics of seedless plants.
LO07 Students understand the general taxonomy of algae which belong to Cyanobacteria,Chlorophyta,Euglenophyta,Bacillariophyta,Phaeophyta and Rodophyta,morphological features,habitat types and the differences between high build plants.
LO08 Students have information about the taxonomic classification of black moss (Bryophyta) and general characteristics of these categories.
