Course Goal / Objective
The aim of this course is to teach the structure of nucleic acids in different organisms, mobile genetic structures and isolation, gene cloning, recombinant DNA techniques, PCR and their applications.
Course Content
In this course, introduction and developments in molecular biology, Plasmids and bacteriophages and their properties, Isolation of plasmid DNA and bacteriophage nucleic acids, Characteristics and importance of transposons and transposable structures, DNA isolation from animal and plant cells, Genetic material transfers and methods that occur in microorganisms and plant cells in the natural environment, Electroporation, electrofusion, biolistic transformation methods and applications, Transformation CaCL2, RbCL2, Protoplast and Liposome methods and mechanisms, Gene cloning, PCR Polymerase chain reaction and application areas, Hybridization Sothern, Northern, In situ and Dot blot, Cloning vectors, Recombinant DNA production and transfer to the recipient organism, Molecular typing methods, DNA fingerprint, RFLP, RAPD are covered.
