Course Goal / Objective

At the end of this course, it is aimed that students will gain the competencies related to the use of medical imaging devices, ensuring their efficient work by performing and having their calibration and maintenance done, taking the necessary precautions for radiation safety, establishing healthy communication with the awareness of professional and ethical responsibility.

Course Content

Within the scope of this course; radiation physics, dose units, counting devices, gamma cameras, planning of laboratories, radioisotopes-radiopharmaceuticals, protection methods from radiation hazards, RIA, biological effects of radiation, cleaning of radioactive contamination will be covered.

LO05 Performs imaging of the desired body part of the patient to whom radioactive substance is given for radionuclide imaging.
LO06 Gives the patient the appropriate position so that a clear image can be obtained.
LO07 Recognizes the hardware parts required for the use and management of the PET-CT device.
LO08 Applies calibration and maintenance procedures for the efficient operation of the PET-CT device.
LO09 Applies routine quality control procedures in Nuclear Medicine devices.
