Course Goal / Objective
The aim of this course is to enable students to grasp the fundamental principles of international law and enhance their ability to analyze complex legal concepts, thereby equipping them with a certain level of knowledge in the field of international law. The goal is for students to improve their problem-solving skills and communication abilities. This course aims not only to provide students with knowledge but also to empower them to apply their legal knowledge in practice, fostering their development in practical legal applications.
Course Content
This course provides an in-depth analysis of international law, focusing on four main areas: sources of international law, subjects of international law, relations between states, and legal regimes of territories. Under the sources of international law, we explore the significance and interpretation of treaties, customary international law, general principles of law, as well as auxiliary and subsidiary sources. Subjects of international law include states and international organizations such as the United Nations, delving into their recognition, legal status, and responsibilities. The section on relations between states covers diplomatic and consular relations, as well as mechanisms for resolving international disputes. Finally, we examine the legal framework governing territories, with a particular focus on the law of the sea and its implications for territorial waters, exclusive economic zones, and the high seas.
