Course Goal / Objective

This course aims to introduce students to the concepts of private law and to provide them with the ability to evaluate basic legal issues in this field. Each week, current controversial issues in private law will be addressed and students will be able to develop their ability to think, analyze and interpret these issues. At the same time, students will be supported in their academic studies by providing basic information on academic research and writing processes.

Course Content

This course covers the basic concepts, principles and rules of private law such as civil law, law of obligations, commercial law, family law and inheritance law. The course aims to comprehensively examine how legal relationships between individuals are regulated, how contracts and debt relationships are established, how businesses operate within the legal framework and the rights and obligations in the field of private law. In addition, the differences between the basic principles of private law and public law will be discussed and the effects of private law rules on individuals and society will be analyzed. During the course, students will be provided with the ability to define, analyze and resolve legal problems they may encounter in the field of private law.
