Course Goal / Objective
The General Legal History II course aims to provide a comprehensive examination of legal history by exploring the legal systems of major civilizations that have shaped world legal history. In this context, the legal systems of the Sumerian, Babylonian, and Egyptian civilizations are analyzed in detail, with a particular focus on their fundamental structures and historical development processes.
Course Content
This course comprehensively examines the history, culture, and religious life of the Sumerians. It explores the fundamental structure of state administration and criminal law in Sumerian society. By focusing on Sumerian legal texts and regulations, it analyzes the legal system of the period. Additionally, it provides a detailed evaluation of family law, inheritance law, and slavery practices in Sumerian civilization.
